For residential spray foam applications, we exclusively use Polarfoam PF-7300-0 Soya (Polarfoam). Polarfoam is an environmentally friendly, high performance, closed cell rigid polyurethane foam used for insulation, and is spray applied exclusively by CUFCA certified applicators.
In the picture above, we are installing 6" of Polarfoam directly to roof deck of a log home. The way this home was designed, there would have been very poor ventilation in this area, so using foam was a must. Because spray foam is able to provide a perfect seal, this area didn't require traditional ventilation. We were also able to seal the connection between the roof deck and wall perfectly with spray foam.
Because spray foam insulation is applied as a liquid and then expands to 20-30 times its initial volume, it is the best way to ensure that every single crack, gap, and void is perfectly sealed. Because the majority of heat in your home is lost in via air leakage, spray foam is the best choice for insulation as it becomes an air barrier at only ¼”. Spray foam insulation is quickly becoming the standard for hard to seal areas like: rim joist ends, bonus room floors, vaulted ceilings, and cantilevers. A typical wall will have over 3” of foam and the foam acts as a 3 in 1 insulation system that stops air movement, vapor transfer and over 95% of conductive heat loss. Spray foam insulation is the best insulation available today.
